-How to spend your time on Iriomote Island and things to be careful of-
●Between October and March, most sailings to Uehara Port are canceled.
Uehara Port is vulnerable to swells caused by northerly winds because its shipping route passes through the open ocean.
Between October and March, there is an approximately 80% chance of cancellation.
You will most likely enter Iriomote Iriomote Island from Ohara Port.
Our facility does not provide transportation when Uehara Port is cancelled.
You can take Anei Kanko's free shuttle bus directly from Ohara Port to the inn.

●There are four buses per day and only chartered taxis are available.The only road on Iriomote Island stretches over 50km from end to end.

・From Shinagawa Station, take the Tokaido Main Line to Chigasaki Station
・From Osaka Prefectural Office to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Hyogo Prefecture
・From Hakata Station to Sakaken Genkaicho
Iriomote Island is quite large.
It takes just under 30 minutes to walk from the facility to the shops.
It takes more than an hour to walk to Uehara Port one way.
There are quite a few ups and downs, so a rental car is generally the most convenient option.
●90% of Iriomote Island is jungle.We are in an area that is only 10% of the island.
On a jungle island where non-human creatures are overwhelmingly more numerous,
It's impossible to avoid encountering insects and such.
But we can also use our wisdom.
・Don't leave windows or doors open, and close them as quickly as possible.
・If the lights are on, don't open the windows.(Screen doors are also useless.)
・To prevent ants from entering the room, clean up any spilled food promptly.
・Store leftovers in the refrigerator, even if they don't need to be refrigerated.
・After eating and drinking, wash containers and other items before putting them in the trash.
・When walking on the road at night, always light your feet to avoid stepping on a cobra.

If insects enter, creatures that prey on them also enter.
There is also a possibility that Habu snakes, which prey on them, may also enter the area.
This was the first thing our grandmother told us when we started living on Iriomote Island.
You need that understanding to stay here.
●The tap water on Iriomote Island is drinkable.Iriomote Island uses water from the mountains and rivers as tap water.
In other words,Natural water.(Of course it's been processed.)
So you can drink it as is.
There is currently a campaign to reduce plastic bottles, and you can get free water in your own bottle at various locations!

The owner has worked at a Tokyo veterinary hospital for 7 years and is a former nursing assistant and groomer, so you're very welcome!
